From textile base to welded bag
TIDURA uses a woven polyester base from the Benelux region. ORTLIEB sister company GDS applies the TPU coating in Heilsbronn, Germany, where the material is matched to the brand's high-frequency welding process.
ORTLIEB says bringing the coating process closer to its bag production provides more control over quality, contamination risk and supply routes. It offers the material in two versions, TIDURA strong and TIDURA core, and reports that both completed at least 100,000 Martindale abrasion cycles in its testing.
The first TIDURA products
TIDURA strong debuts in the Back-Roller 20L Zip-Pocket pannier, the Velocity 23L commuter backpack and the Duffle Zip in 40 L and 60 L sizes. The new Daypack 23L uses TIDURA core.
The Back-Roller, Velocity and Duffle Zip are listed in Black and Lavender. The Daypack 23L is listed in Black and Dark Sand.
Waterproofing remains product-specific
TIDURA is the fabric platform rather than a complete waterproof rating. Each finished bag combines the material with welded seams, hardware and either a roll closure or TIZIP zipper. Its IP rating therefore depends on the complete product construction.
